After every great trip comes the task of getting your van ready for storage. Explore our expert tips for properly storing your RV, ensuring it remains well-maintained and ready for the next adventure!

1. Store Caravans On An Angle

When placing your van in an outdoor storage facility or at home, always store the van with a couple of degrees of fall either toward the front or rear so the van doesn’t hold water on the rooftop. This is particularly useful if the roof is a little uneven.

2. Fill Or Drain Water Tanks

If storing your van for a few months between holidays, keep the water tanks full while in storage and then drain and refill just before you head off again. If storing for a year or more, drain the tanks completely and leave the bung plug out so the tank can dry internally, then simply flush and fill when you are ready to set off again.

3. Lubricate Door Locks & Barrels

Periodically lubricate your main door lock and key barrel with silicone dry lubricant spray, in fact this spray can be used on all locks, hinges, awning mounts and also on rubber seals around external hatches to keep them soft and sealing well.

4. Keep Fridges & Freezers Ajar

Leave the fridge and freezer doors ajar to prevent moisture build-up and mould growth. The Dometic Door spacer is just the thing you need!
