AL-KO Bigfoot Corner Steady Foot Single Unit

Broke a Bigfoot on a Murray river vehicular ferry by fitting in the very narrow ramps.
I have fitted the new unit but found it very difficult to bend the split pins to secure the spring. This resulted in the spring being a little loose and therefore the unit being a sloppy. I found the split pins very hard to bend and assume they are such to unsure that they not being lost.
