Which Heater Should You Buy?
AU Focus 2kW Bluetooth Diesel (Gen 4) — $699 with tank. Our best-seller and the factory-standard heater for over 90 Australian caravan manufacturers, so parts are quick and warranty turnaround is short. Bluetooth app control plus physical controller. The right pick for most vans up to about 7 m.
Webasto Air Top 2000 STC — from $1,649. The long-haul choice, with decades of marine and RV service behind it. Stepless 0.9–2.0 kW output and near-silent night running. Buy this if you tour full-time or want the most proven unit on the market.
Truma VarioHeat Eco — $2,149 kit. LPG heater with 1.3 kW night mode and 2.8 kW boost. The pick if your van is already plumbed for gas and you don't want to add a second fuel system. Requires installation by a licensed gas fitter — we can arrange this at our Melbourne workshop.
Quick rule of thumb: vans up to 6.7 m suit a 2kW diesel unit; longer vans or regular sub-zero alpine camping call for 5kW. For the full breakdown by van length, insulation and climate, see our heater sizing guide.
Diesel or Gas?
Diesel suits off-grid touring: dry heat, roughly $4–6 a night to run, refuel at any servo, and DIY installation is legal in Australia. Gas suits caravan-park travellers already carrying LPG for cooking — instant warmth, no second fuel system, but it must be fitted by a licensed gas fitter
